How can you tell if a townhome complex is a good one. Well, there are many ways. Here's a tip for you to assist in your choice of townhomes. They say you can't judge a book by its cover but its also true that you can't judge a townhome complex by its appearance. Before you buy into a townhome development you'll want to meet with the management of the unit. Among the many questions you should ask them is what percentage of all units have been rented out? Its a known fact that renters don't take as good care of their townhomes as owners. So when a unit has a large percentage of renters its a sign that things might not be as rosy as they might appear. Some use 20% as the maximum percentage of rentals as is desirable. This isn't to say that renters automatically don't take care of their unit. Its only to point out that they haven't the incentive and motivation as an owner.
